Merion Monthly Meeting was established in 1951 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite) out of Merion Preparative Meeting at the dissolution of Radnor Monthly Meeting. Merion Preparative Meeting was established in 1701. In 1827, at the time of the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the preparative meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Merion Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1827. Merion Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was established as Merion Monthly Meeting in 1951 at the dissolution of Radnor Monthly Meeting.
